With tears in their eyes, Jase and Missy Robertson make the heartbreaking announcement.

Mia Robertson, the littlest daughter of Jase and Missy Robertson from Duck Dynasty, was born with a condition called cleft lip and palate. This condition causes a gap in the upper lip, which can also affect the gum.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 1 in 1,600 babies in the U.S. are born with both a cleft lip and cleft palate.

Due to her condition, Mia, a kind-hearted girl who is now 18 years old, has had to go through 13 surgeries. Recently, she had her 14th surgery. Mia’s family sincerely wishes that this would be her final procedure, bringing an end to her problem.

During each surgery, the young girl stays optimistic. Additionally, she aims to inspire other kids with the same condition. With her family’s support, Mia created the Mia Moo Fund to ensure every child has a reason to smile.

Missy Robertson informed Christian Post that the Mia Moo Fund has a role in raising awareness about the journey of cleft lip and palate.

“The other one is to help with medical funds for the parents and the families living right here in America.”

Jase Robertson provided an update on Mia’s progress during his podcast Unashamed, stating that his daughter is recovering nicely.

“She’s doing great. She’s turned a corner,” he said, and then added, “Everything seems great, seems to be fine.”

“Surgery went a little longer than expected, but she is home and recovering,” the loving father told his podcast listeners. “Thank you for praying for her and for our family. She is a champion!”

Missy discussed her daughter’s condition before the surgery and mentioned that people frequently inquired about the future procedures Mia would have to go through. “There is never any other response than ‘We just don’t know,’” Missy said. She then added that they rely on God for assistance. “Since she is 18 now, she is taking the lead in all the discussions and medical forms. It’s been a little strange,” Missy wrote. “But it’s just another reminder to lean on the Lord and that I’m not in control.”

Mia also hopes that she’s at “the finish line.”

“Hopefully the last time I’ll see my doctors in this setting! It’s been a long road but we are at the finish line,” brave Mia said.

The Robertson family has been getting ready for a new member to join their family. They are opening their hearts and home to a child whose mother was unable to care for them.

We hope Mia gets well soon.
